Night reviewed: Thursday
Free beer tomorrow is a promise many pubs make, but yesterday we experienced a rare thing when it was free beer today! Not only was it free beer, but it was excellent quality beer, and in our favourite pub to boot.
The Narrowboat was hosting a Timothy Taylors beer tasting night, which involved two of their brewers distributing free beer to the punters and explaining how it was produced. Starting with Golden Best (a light mild whose malt we were invited to try), followed by Best Bitter (accompanied by a smell of the hops used), Landlord (a beer which needed no explanation), and finally Ram Tam (a dark, strong beer that has a reputation as a ‘Winter Warmer’). Add in the free snacks which were provided and you’ve got the perfect pub night out!
All in all, an excellent evening, which we sincerely hope will be run again in the future! If we do hear of such an event, we’ll post it in advance next time.
